WHAT IS TANE

the figure of speech in form of a question, the rhetoric; 'What is Tane?'
A carefully crafted question can, if delivered well, persuade an audience to believe in the position of the speaker. You'll find that on Wikipedia.
Tane is simply a moniker for myself. I work under a name because I like to separate the person I am at home — sleeping, shopping, socialising — from whoever Tane is.

I pose the question of design, in rhetoric. I want to tackle the philosophy and nature behind design, questioning aspects of effectiveness and purpose. There is no expectation of a 'reply', but i will produce informed design decisions.
In reference to my work, i like to be able to justify my work, and my decisions and choices.
Yes, great designers definitely have a sharper eye than most, but a lot of their choices are less “instinctive” than most people realise — there is research involved, education in design history, various projects under their belt, etc — that helps designers make better decisions that seem “automatic.”

This search for justified, informed design could be a result of my naievity as young, unexperienced designer with a fear to meet the grounds of bad, uneffective design in my own efforts; or my passion to succeed as an effective visual communicator with an aquired standard of taste,
'Taste', being referred to in philosophical terms the 'capability to judge about beauty', to which philosopher John Hume tried to give evidence to the thesis that 'one can argue about taste in a philosophical way', which lead to the grounds of the aesthetics, the 'science of the sensual perception'.

Aesthetic judgement of art, culture and nature returns to the rhetoric question. Aesthetic judgement does not demand agreement, it only invites to such an agreement, (permitting opinion), the way the rhetoric invites the listener to think about what the (often obvious) answer to the question must be.

I am using this webspace to feature and organise collections of my work, work that i see fit to display, work that would display the components of 'good design' and other over-analytical properties. A body of work mainly composed of visual communication design.
